Now, let’s move onto the Inbox Dollars Reviews…

inbox dollars reviewsThe College Investor — Only a Waste of Time

The College Investor wrote one of the very popular Inbox Dollars reviews.  It seems that he used the site once and got frustrated with it.  His review and his comments are extremely valuable to someone considering making money with Inbox Dollars.

He said he got an enticing signup offer where Inbox Dollars agreed to pay him $5 in exchange for his email address.  He signed up and assumed that doing the reviews could be a way to earn money while he’s doing time-wasting activities like binging on Netflix.  Unfortunate for him, Inbox Dollars served him several surveys that he was disqualified for, and he’s spent valuable time on each.  He’d spent more than 10 minutes on some surveys before finding out that he didn’t qualify!

The Inbox dollars experience earned him $1.50 an hour, and he recommends people to beware.  When you scroll further down on his review, his commenters shared their experiences with Inbox Dollars, and in summary, they had the following experiences:

  • More than one commenter said they’d reached the $30 payment threshold and were told they cannot cash out for reasons like “suspected bot-like activity”.  Here’s a frustrated commenter as an example:

  • They send out lots of emails you get paid $0.01 to open, and some commenters complained of not getting credited for opening the emails
  • Their account balances were locked after exceeding the $30 payout
  • Of ten comments, 8 were negative and 2 were positive. The positive comments didn’t show much signs of making good money though.  Here’s an example:

Overall, based on the article and comments from the College Investor, I’d stay away from Inbox Dollars.

Let’s see if others feel that way though…

The Penny Hoarder — Only Recommended for Time Wasting

The Penny Hoarder has a great site on frugal living and personal finance.  Within the site, there’s several articles on making more money, saving more money, and making wise investment choices.  The Inbox Dollars review is one of many reviews they’ve done: some positive and some negative.

Unlike the College Investors Inbox Dollars review, the Penny Hoarder was more positive.  He had a similar experience to the College Investor: he saw the $5 signup offer, signed up, completed lots of questioning, and began taking surveys.

He said a 9-minute review is supposed to pay $0.25, but the 9-minute reviews were much longer than 9-minutes.  Similar to the College Investor, he got frustrated after spending time answering questions (sometimes 10 or more), then being told he’s not qualified.

inbox dollars reviewsWhen you calculate the pay at $0.25 per 9-minutes, the most you can make is $1.50 per hour!

In addition to the surveys, there’s also opportunities to make money watching TV and movie clips surfing the web, and you can make money by opening emails, however, the earnings for these activities are pennies ($0.01-$0.05).  You have to watch TV clips and videos that you may not have heard of, and some that you may not enjoy in order to get $0.01-0.05.

To make money with the Inbox Dollars web surfing, you have to use the Inbox Dollars search engine and you can earn $0.01 and three entries into their sweepstakes per four searches.

In summary, the Penny Hoarder’s review of Inbox Dollars has demonstrated that making money on this site takes quite a bit of time and unless you don’t mind wasting lots of time, Inbox Dollars isn’t a good option for you.

SurveyCool — Their Favorite of All Survey Sites

After reading two notable blogs who said Inbox Dollars is a waste of time, it’s odd to see SurveyCool say Inbox Dollars is their favorite and top recommendation.  They didn’t specify survey payment amounts, but they said it’s possible to earn a full time living from the comfort of your home using Inbox Dollars.

Now, after hearing two reputable blogs mention you get paid $1.50/hour, then going over to SurveyCool where they say you can earn a full-time living from Inbox Dollars, my trust for SurveyCool has become depleted.  They didn’t give any details, they wrote mostly positive things like:

  • The Founder, Darren Cotter has a noteworthy reputation
  • Inbox Dollars is an Inc. 5000 company
  • They have an A+ rating with the BBB
  • They paid $50 million to its members by 2017
  • They have more than 10 million users

While many of the things mentioned in the Survey Cool Inbox Dollars review shows the credibility of the company, it seems that they’ve grossly misspoken to majority of the world when they say you can make a full-time income doing surveys that pay $1.50/hr.

Better Business Bureau

Of all of the Inbox Dollars reviews, most people would think of the BBB review as a determining factor for whether the business is legit or a scam.

Added to that, since SurveyCool mentioned the BBB review, I was curious to see what the Better Business Bureau had to say about Inbox Dollars. Although the BBB is very biased in their ratings (since you pay for them), their very inaccurate. A good rating at the BBB doesn’t mean there’s a quality product or service, and it definitely doesn’t mean there’s good support.  Despite the ethics behind the BBB reviews, I still think reading over it is valuable because you can see complaints, how the company responded, and isolate potential trends before spending your time.

Here’s what the Inbox Dollars BBB review looks like…

inbox dollars reviews

As you can see Inbox Dollars is a surname of CotterWeb Enterprises, Inc.  They have an A+ rating, however, they also have a two-star customer rating and 66 complaints (as of this writing).  The customer complaints seem to line up with the other reviews done by the Penny Hoarder and the College Investor.

Customers were complaining about:

  • Getting banned once they reached the payout threshold
  • Some claimed to earn $0.05/hr
  • Giving 30 minutes of pre-screening questions before kicking you out of the survey
  • Hitting the $30 threshold after one year or more of completing surveys

This review seems to repeat common patterns from customer complaints:

Could all of the complaints that say they were banned after requesting payout be wrong?

Based on the Reviews, I’d Stay Away From Inbox Dollars and Find Another Way to Make Money Online.

Incentives For Referring People to Inbox Dollars

Unfortunately, incentives can skew referrals.  Some people will refer others to bad products or services if they perceive they can make money from doing so. In the long run, you can mislead several people and ruin your reputation for making bad recommendations for others in exchange for money.

We cannot claim to know which people wrote favorable reviews in exchange for a referral commission, however, it always raises suspicion anytime we read lots of bad reviews and a minority of raving reviews stating a completely alternative experience (such as the case with the College Investor, the Penny Hoarder, and SurveyCool).  Neither, the College Investor or the Penny Hoarder recommended people sign up without iterating the time commitment in exchange for the low pay.  However, SurveyCool recommended people sign up and expect a full time income, then inserted an affiliate link to earn a commission from people signing up.

I’m not against affiliate marketing or earning a commission from referrals, however, I think you should always be ethical. Refer people to products and services that help them achieve positive results or be honest if they’ll be spending lots of time in exchange for little to no money.  Don’t skew reviews for money! Use integrity.  Of all the Inbox Dollars reviews I saw, this one seemed the most deceitful.

A Video Playlist

Here’s a video playlist of Inbox Dollars reviews to give you more perspective on Inbox Dollars, and to help you make a good decision about whether it’s something you’d like to do with your time.  I’ve included good reviews and bad reviews.  Personally, I think many people are saying good things to get you to sign up and make them a commission.  Don’t forget the facts.

You get paid $0.25 for a 9-minute survey, pennies for opening emails, pennies for surfing the web, and pennies for watching TX clips and videos you may or may not like.  With that in mind, check this playlist out and keep in mind the people who are obviously being dishonest by making false claims about making a full-time income. Don’t trust those people for this or anything else. They’re liars.

The Video Inbox Dollars Reviews Didn’t Make it anymore appetizing. I’d Find another Way to Make Money Online if I were You.
